Seven Quick and Effective Ways to Drive More Traffic to Your Website

With a continuous increase in the number of organizations switching their business to an online portal, there is a great demand to increase organic traffic to convert. When it comes to achieving the long-term traffic potential, content marketing and SEO are the most effective instruments which naturally lend themselves to compounding returns over time. However, both these strategies are tedious and they take a long time to return the desired return on investment.  But there are still certain rules that can be applied to achieve better results in lesser time. Read on here to know about a few of them:

Guest Post

Guest blogging enhances the marketing message that the blogger is trying to convey and they offer higher credibility to the post. This platform connects you with authorities who already have established audiences. Take Huffington post as an example- its readership is in millions, so if you get your blog published there- chances are higher that you will develop a new set of fan following that will probably convert sooner or later. If your content is authoritative and valuable, you’ll wind up with a strong flow of users to your site that will help you in both content marketing and SEO.

Build Your Social Media Audience

At present, more and more businesses are focusing on enhancing their social media reach and following. It is an effective way to increase brand awareness, partnering with influencers, promoting the content and increasing website traffic. While social audience building can be unpredictable and it takes a lot of effort, but if you maintain your consistency and have your priorities in order, it will certainly be useful in scaling your potential user base. You can emphasize on content marketing to start attracting your audience naturally or ads to funnel traffic directly, but more importantly, you can actually engage with people.

Q and A keyword phrases

This is a surprisingly underrated trick to get organic search traffic to your website. Modern folks often reach the search engines to find answers to their queries by phrasing them that way. Once you find these keywords-strings-phrases-as questions, the next step should be to answer them. You can either write blogs or articles related to the question with a nice web of internal links and related content to keep the audience on the ride.

Throwbacks

This is where you use your older, high ranking content to get some limelight and renew the audience’s attention.  The idea here is to publish some such well-written contents published in the past. Just review and update the post with timely information, and add internal links to redirect related content, and update the Meta tags and description with keyword-rich details.

Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is a marketing methodology that is designed to draw visitors and potential customers in, rather than outwardly pushing a brand, product or service onto prospects in the hope of generating leads or customers. Inbound marketing is a marketing methodology that is designed to draw potential customers, instead of outwardly pushing a brand with a combination of marketing channels.  In reference to digital marketing, we need to use a combination of inbound marketing channels-most commonly content marketing, SEO, and social media in a creative way.

Inform and Educate

While attractive, enticing content will help you grab visitors, it may not ensure loyalty. In order to build a loyal readership, you should focus on writing content that has an extended shelf life. Just identify your target audience, study their personas, and build some engaging and informative contents that they would love to read. You can create informative content and promote it via Guest Publishing and other well-known, niche-relevant communities.

Repurposing

No doubt, content marketing is the hub of traffic generation, but again, not everyone is a reader and willing to spend minutes poring over something on the internet. Rather, a significant segment of your audience would prefer watching a video or listen to a podcast. This is where transforming a blog post comes into play. A good rule of thumb is –use infographics for social media, data-backed op-eds for LinkedIn, e-books and whitepapers for emails and websites, videos and podcasts for social media and website, and so on.

These were some great ways you can increase traffic to your website, that too without spending a lot of time and effort. But these strategies give their best return when handled professionally. So, delve into the techniques of digital marketing to explore this field. However, if you are not able to do it all yourself, ask us for help. How to Make a WordPress Website – A Comprehensive Guide for Beginners

Being full of a vast number of plug-ins, it is beneficial for nearly every industry and for businesses of any size. While WordPress is based on PHP, CSS, and HTML, users are not required to know coding to use its content management system. Thus, it’s easy to make a self-hosted WordPress website. But before starting any operation over WordPress, you’ll need to have your own domain name and hosting.

Also, it’s important to download and unzip the WordPress package. Moreover, upload the WordPress files to the desired location on your web server and then edit the file and add your database. If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain, then move or upload all content of the unzipped WordPress directory into the root directory of your web server. If you want to have your WordPress installation to your sub directory on your website, then create the blog directory on your server and upload the contents of the unzipped WordPress package to the directory.

Here is a step-wise guide for developing a WordPress website.

Step 1. Download and Extract

Download and unzip the WordPress package from https://wordpress.org/download/. If you will be uploading the WordPress package to a remote web server, then download the WordPress package to your computer with a web browser and unzip the package. If you have shell access to your web server and capable of using console-based tools, you can download WordPress directly to your web server by using wget. And, if you want to avoid FTPing, visit https://wordpress.org/latest.tar.gz and unzip the package using: tar -xzvf latest.tar.gz.

Step 2: Create the Database and a User

If you are using a hosting provider, chances are you may already have a WordPress database, or there may be an automated setup solution. You need to check your hosting provider’s support pages or your control panel to analyze whether or not you’ll need to create one manually. In case you find the need to create one manually, follow the instructions for accessing phpMyAdmin on various servers, or follow the instructions for using Plesk, Using cPanel or Using phpMyAdmin. And, if you are installing WordPress on your web server, follow the instructions for using phpMyAdmin below to create your WordPress username and database. If you have only one database, you can install WordPress in it- just make sure to have a distinctive prefix for your tables to avoid over-writing any existing database tables.

Using phpMyAdmin

If your web server already has phpMyAdmin installed, you can create your WordPress username and database. And, if you work on your computer, you can install PhpMyAdmin automatically. Next, you need to enter the chosen database name in the “Create database field” and select the best collation for your language and encoding. We suggest choosing the “utf8_” series and “utf8mb4_general_ci”. And, click the phpMyAdmin icon in the upper left to return to the main page, then click the Users tab. In case a user related to WordPress does not already exist in the list, create one by using the followings steps:

  1. Click on “Add user”.
  2. Select a username for WordPress and enter it in the “User name” field.
  3. Set a strong password in the Password field. Re-enter the password in the “Re-type” field to finalize it.
  4. Log in by filling the username and password.
  5. Leave all options under defaults.
  6. Click Go.
  7. Return to the Users screen and click the “Edit privileges” icon.
  8. In the Database-specific privileges section, select the database you’ve just created for WordPress under the “Add privileges” and click Go.
  9. Click “Check All” to select all privileges, and click on “Go”’.
  10. On the resulting page, make note of the hostname listed after Server: at the top of the page.

Step 3: Set up wp-config.php

You can either create or edit the wp-config.php file, or skip this step and let WordPress do this itself when you run the installation script. Return to where you extracted the WordPress package in Step 1, rename the file wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php, and open it in a text editor. Enter your database information under the section labeled as // ** MySQL settings – You can get this info from your web host ** //.

DB_NAME

The name of the database you created for WordPress in Step 2.

DB_USER

The username you created for WordPress in Step 2.

DB_PASSWORD

The password you chose for the WordPress username in Step 2.

DB_HOST

The hostname you determined in Step 2 (usually local host, but not always; see some possible DB_HOST values). If a port, socket, or pipe is necessary, append a colon (:) and then the relevant information to the hostname.

DB_CHARSET

The database character set, normally should not be changed (see editing wp-config.php).

DB_COLLATE

The database collation should normally be left blank (see Editing wp-config.php).

Enter your secret key values under the section labeled

* Authentication Unique Keys.

Save the wp-config.php file.

Step 4: Upload the Files

Now you will need to decide where on your domain you’d like your WordPress-powered site to appear:

In the root directory of your website. (For example, http://example.com/)

In a sub directory of your website. (For example, http://example.com/blog/)

Remember that the location of your root web directory in the file system on your web server will vary across operating systems and hosting providers. If you cannot find where your file is, check with your hosting provider or system administrator.

In the Root Directory

For uploading your files to your web server, you can use an FTP client to upload all the contents of the WordPress directory into the root directory of your website. If your files are already on your web server, and you are using shell access to install WordPress, then you should move all of the contents of the WordPress directory into the root directory of your website.

In a Sub directory

If you need to upload your files to your web server, rename the WordPress directory to your desired name, then use an FTP client to upload the directory to your desired location within the root directory of your website. If your files are already on your server, and you are using shell access to install WordPress, move the WordPress directory to your desired location within the root directory of your website, and rename the directory to your desired name.

Step 5: Run the Install Script

Point a web browser to start the installation script.

The command for installing the script varies on the basis of the location where you have placed your WordPress files. For instance- if you have placed it in the root directory, visit http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php. However, if it’s placed in a subdirectory called a blog, for example, you should visit http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php.

Setup configuration file

If WordPress can’t find the wp-config.php file, it will tell you and offer to try to create and edit the file itself. (You can also do this directly by loading wp-admin/setup-config.php in your web browser.) WordPress will ask you the database details and write them to a new wp-config.php file. If this works, you can go ahead with the installation; otherwise, go back and create, edit, and upload the wp-config.php file yourself (step 3).

Finishing installation

Remember that in entering the details screen, you enter your site title, your desired user name, your choice of a password (twice), and your e-mail address. Also, tick the checkbox if you would like your blog to appear in Google Search, and unchecked if you want it to be visible to everyone, including search engines, and check the box if you want to block search engines, but allow normal visitors.

WordPress is easy to use but one need to gain sufficient knowledge about the various commands that have to be used. It might be complicated for a beginner to develop a WordPress website and you may find yourself looking for some quick answers.  The good news is that you can find plenty of free articles, blogs, and questionnaires related to them. However, if you are still not able to create your website, then feel free to ask us for help. Our experienced team of developers can provide you with a high-quality website, that too at an affordable price.

How to Avoid Getting Fooled by Digital Marketing Agencies

It’s a strictly profit-oriented world where everyone is looking to make money by hook or crook. You might have noticed how a simple headache is manipulated into a full-blown psychological problem by doctors or how a leak in ceiling requires an expensive rooftop replacement scenario. But how would you know that you are getting fooled in the Digital Marketing agency? As the internet continues to grow, it becomes important for businesses to incorporate their brand strategy. It’s true that entrepreneurs are risk takers by nature, but when it comes to hiring someone to fulfill the digital marketing needs of ones’ company, it’s important to check major aspects. Over the years, more organizations have entered the digital marketing industry which has resulted in the dilution of the quality of work rendered. In such a market, it is tough to find those who are principled proprietors of Digital Marketing and those who are scammers. Here we have shared some tips to avoid being ripped off by any Digital Marketing agency:

  • Learn All About Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is a dynamic field as its tools and techniques keep on evolving as per Google Analytics. Even if you want to outsource this service from a third party, it’s important to learn its details as spurious digital marketing agencies may use difficult terms or jargons to throw you off. You don’t have to be an expert in digital marketing, but at least you should have the proficiency to understand what a particular digital marketing agency is charging and how you can make heads or tails of the digital marketing and its various processes.

  • Look at the Agency’s Previous Work

Before you schedule the meeting, ask all your prospective Digital Marketing firm to provide you with the list of websites on which they have worked. It’s advisable to make an in-depth analysis of their previous work including the social media websites they set up for clients. Also, ask them whether they achieved considerable results, and if they failed, what were the reasons behind this.

  • Check whether it Push One-Size-Fits-All Campaigns

Be wary of companies that offer you set packages for digital marketing services. You should not get fooled by basement bottom pricing tactics as it’s a common tactics that these organizations use to get you hooked. And, once they billed you a few installments, they’ll slowly add on to the original contract price with “unforeseen” expenses. Also, do not sign a contract with any company that is offering you the services at too cheap prices as it’s another way to get you hooked.

  • Ask as Many Questions as Possible

You don’t have to become the client who sees all the hard earned dollars flowing out to a digital marketing agency that could not deliver results. Some agencies insist their clients to use a specific tool or subscription because they are earning commission from suppliers for the continued use of the programs. You can be dazzled by the amazing presentation the company will deliver to explain you the benefits of using those tools. In such a scenario, don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as possible and don’t commit to anything until you have given the proposal enough thought.

  • Be Wary, if the Agency Guarantees Immediate Results

If an Agency guarantees to take your website on the first page of the Search Engine Results Page after a few months, then that’s not the right place to invest in. The same goes for agencies that assure you of more than 100% guaranteed sales conversions within a limited time. There are no guarantees in Digital Marketing. To get to the top rank of the first page of the SERP requires consistent production of high quality content, a strategic distribution schedule, high-level user engagement and a consistently high performing website. All this is not be a plain-sailing task, and you will be competing with others that may be using similar strategies.

It’s true that Digital Marketing is a proven way to effectively promote your business on the Internet. But its growth as a process has opened up the industry to opportunistic agencies that thrives on hypes and underdeliver results. Thus, we suggest you take the time to conduct research on the industry, uncover its best practices and perform due diligence on all Digital Marketing service organizations that want you to sign up with them.

5 Important Reasons to Redesign Your Company’s Website

A website is the backbone of a business that supports the company’s digital marketing efforts. Thus, it’s important that your website gives a clear idea of brand philosophy and what types of products or services you offer. A website’s design actually makes a difference to how your target audience views your company. And, if done right, it can work as a 24/7 salesperson. But if it fails to gain positive outcomes, even after incorporating SEO tactics and constantly feeding it with the right elements, one should consider resigning it. In this blog, we’ve compiled a list of five reasons that should insist one to pull the trigger on a website redesign.

  •  It Is Not User-Friendly

At present, every user is likely to visit hundreds of quality websites that facilitate intuitive navigation and instant communication.  So, they are less likely to revisit any website that has a slow load speed and fails to quench their curiosity. As most businesses have a large service range, they would surely want to communicate with everyone. And, if the existing website makes it tough for a user to discover content and understand the company’s offerings, then it’s better to get it resigned.

  • Your Website Is Not Responsive

Today, as compared to desktop users, more folks are browsing the internet with their smartphones. So, it’s certainly important to have a mobile-friendly website. After all, nothing might be annoying than exploring a site on which one needs to enlarge each page to read the content or wait for minutes to open another link. So, if such issues are hampering your online reputation, it’s high time to redesign the website.

  • It Does Not Accurately Reflect Your Brand

In its long journey, a company may change its brand philosophy and ideologies. And, sometimes, it might redefine its business model and clientele. In such cases, it’s important to modify the current website to align it well with the changes and clearly showcase the services. Remember that it’s 2018 where Internet users are savvy. They can easily construe whether a business is authentic or not.

  • It Has Poor Conversions

The main reason for which companies want to have a website is reaching out to a large set of global customers and generating leads. Depending on the nature of the business, it also facilitates direct sales. However, if you are making consistent efforts in marketing activities and there is still a continuous decrease in your online sales or leads, it might indicate the need for changing your website. But make sure that a redesign shouldn’t happen until you understand why your existing site is no longer winning leads.

  • Not Aligned With Your Current Marketing Strategy

With time, a company is bound to modify its marketing strategies. Earlier, if it was focusing on getting as many inquiries as possible through the onsite contact form, today, it might try to build authority through blogging and email subscription. But if the website is not geared up for changes, all the marketing efforts will go in vain. So, in case your company is looking forward for any major changes in digital marketing strategy, such as adding robust case studies or a custom quoting engine, then do not stick to adding a bolt-on tools to an outdated website. Rather, create a new website with inbuilt functionalities.

It won’t be untrue to say that a website redesign can be a major game changer for a business, but at the same time, it’s important to consider the fact that it requires a lot of investment in terms of money and time. So, this decision should not be taken lightly. As every company is unique, your decision should depend less on trends, and more on whether your website is meeting your requirements or not. At Universal eSolutions, we have a team of highly efficient web designers you can review your current site to redesign an efficient one that would help you achieve your business goals.
